In order to improve a sample showcase, having a display area which is supported by an underframe, having a covering hood which covers the display area and having masking means which surround the underframe, in such a way that locks and other access parts, and also possibly hinges for pivoting away the covering hood, can be covered by the masking means but, on the other hand, said elements can be freed in a simple way of the masking means, it is proposed that a masking means be pivotable, by its upper edge facing the covering hood, about a substantially horizontal axis of rotation from a starting position, in which it bears on the underframe, into a freeing position.
