The invention relates to a rotary handle on vehicle seats, in particular on seat backs, the shaft of which is mounted rotatably on a frame and has a restricted rotating range of more than 360@. In order to improve a rotary handle of this type in such a manner using simple means and measures that when the handle is rotated a central position can be perceived, it is proposed that a detent element (6), which is arranged on the frame (1), is supported in a resilient elastic manner in a slot (5), which can be rotated by the handle (2) and is arranged such that it revolves about the longitudinal axis of the handle (2), and can be held fixed to the frame in such a way that when the handle (2) is rotated the detent element follows the slot (5) over its entire lenght, the length of the slot (5) furthermore corresponding to the maximum rotational path of the handle (2), and that arranged in the slot (5), to be precise approximately in the centre of its length, is a notch (11) intended for the releasable engagement of the detent element (6). <IMAGE>
