The invention relates to a process for removing pollutants from the exhaust gases of a cement production plant, the exhaust gases of the raw meal preheater being brought into contact with raw meal in a reaction zone. Such a process enables by simple plant-engineering means even the pollutants released in the raw meal preheater, such as the sulphur pyritically bound in the raw meal, to be removed from the exhaust cases.
