Plastic band welding sonotrode - with chamfered front face of stem

<p>An ultrasonic welding system for overlapping plastic bands uses a sonotrode with a one-sided chamfer on the front face of its stem. The sonotrode has a chamfered front face on its stem and is mounted on a guided carriage for sliding on the upright. The overlapping ends of two plastic bands are urged thereby against the back-up plate (4). The beginning elongation urges the band ends against the step of (4) and obviates any displacement. ADVANTAGE - This prevents the fluttering of the band ends, leading to their displacement and thereby ensures that the strength of the overlap weld is not impaired.</p>
