The invention relates to a stepladder with strings which can be pivoted with respect to one another and having connecting means, e.g. straps, chains, cables or the like, which are articulated on the strings and by means of which the pivot angle between the strings can be restricted. The connecting means can be connected to the strings by pivot-restricting elements.
