A cover rosette 1 for use for covering support rosettes 7 in door handles and lock fittings has a circumferential collar 3 which is given a slightly converging shape by pressing in a tool 9 with conical sides. In this way, the edge 11 of the collar can grip around the edge 13 on the support rosette 7 without there being marks, impressions or other blemishes on the visible part of the cover rosette. The support rosette 7 is preferably made by punching its edge 13 in such a manner that a stay is formed for the collar 3 of the cover rosette. <IMAGE>
