PURPOSE:To constitute a knowledge base while giving a high reliability and a high quality to the knowledge base by checking whether the knowledge base is non-contradictive and non-redundant after addition of a new knowledge or not at the time of inputting the new knowledge to store only non-contradictive and non-redundant knowledges in the knowledge base. CONSTITUTION:When the knowledge in a structured knowledge expression like a frame obtained from an expert is inputted from an input/output device 1, a digital computer 3 checks whether the knowledge base is non-contradictive and non-redundant at the time of adding the knowledge to the knowledge base stored in an auxiliary storage device 2 or not. Only non-contradictive and non- redundant knowledges are stored in the knowledge base, and this knowledge base is stored in the auxiliary storage device 2. Thus, the knowledge base is constituted while having a high reliability and a high quality to generate an expert system of high performance.
