The invention relates to a device for applying an adhesive material to a surface. The material is located on a carrier tape which is wound on to a dispensing reel. When the material is being applied to the surface, the carrier tape is removed from the material and wound on to a take-up reel. The rotary drive of the take-up reel takes place via gearwheels which connect the dispensing reel and take-up reel to one another. A slipping coupling on the take-up reel ensures the matching of rotational speeds. Slipping coupling is brought about by elastic elements which are arranged in such a way that, in the tensioned state, they press the take-up reel into its winding direction.
