The invention relates to a container for receiving used fluorescent tubes which consist of a glass tube with a two-pin base at each end in each case. In the novel container, the tubes are stacked upright. One two-pin base stands on an elastic standing surface in each case. The tubes are held and bundled in this upright position by at least one grid. The stacking frame of the container is surrounded by a casing which has two loading and unloading openings.
