Calibration method for multichannel squid systems with gradiometers in any order.

In this method, calibration coils (4, 5) arranged symmetrically at equal distances between the parallel coil planes are allocated to each gradiometer coil so that the common oppositely directed magnetic fields of these calibration coils (4, 5), with an identical number of ampere turns, penetrate through each gradiometer coil (1, 2) and the field caused by the calibration coils (4, 5) at the locations of the gradiometer coils (1, 2) is numerically calculated and divided by the measured voltage at the output of the associated SQUID electronics, for determining the calibration factor.
