The invention relates to a monitoring apparatus with a switching device, which operates as a function of a current detection device, for opening and closing circuits in the event of an overload, having a processor and nominal value stores with which actual values can be compared and evaluated. Integrated into the monitoring apparatus there is a device for determining additional faults which relate to operations, statistical operating data and maintenance notes, and a continuous display for displaying these data successively. In addition, input keys are provided by means of which desired parameters which can be displayed in the continuous display can be set. In consequence, the apparatus can be used in a versatile manner with the maximum convenience.
