<p>Amorphous multi-metal coating, esp. for formation of magnetic thin films and corrosion-resistant coatings, has the formula MaM'bRc, where M is at least one of Mo, W, Nb, Ta; M' is at least one of Fe, Ni, Co, Mn, Cr; R is at least one of P, B, N, As, S, Si, C; and a is 0.15-0.85, b is 0.15-0.85, and c is more than 0-0.25, such that, when M' includes Cr, the sum of other M' elements plus C is at least 0.15. It is mfd. from at least two precursor metal-bearing cpds. and one precursor non-metallic elementbearing cpd., each contg. one of the metals and non-metal required in the coating. Substrate is heated in a closed system to a temp. of at least the decompsn. temp. of precursors cpds., which are volatilised to form the film on the substrate.</p> |
