PURPOSE:To attain high density of recording without the magnetic field orientation step, by coating a resin constituent having magnetic powder of hexagonal system uniaxial anisotropy with a specified grain diameter on a base. CONSTITUTION:Magnetic powder made of hexagonal system uniaxial anisotropy crystal, 0.01-0.3mum particle diameter (e.g., Co-Ti permutated Ba ferrite powder) is dispersed to a composition where a dispersion agent, a curing agent, and as requird, an organic solvent are incorporated to a resin such as polyvinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer. Further, this composition is coated on the base and dried to obtain a magnetic recording medium in which the ratio of the residual magnetization/saturated magnetization of the magnetization curve correcting the result of vertical measurement of the surface of the medium with diamagnetism is 0.3-0.7. Thus, stable recording and reproduction can be made and a magnetic recording medium possible for high-density recording and using a ring-shape magnetic head can be obtained. |
