A rotary sliding closure unit for use with a liquid melt container has a base plate (10), connected removably with the outer jacket (1) of the container, on which a stationary support frame (24) is mounted, supporting a stationary annular refractory plate (20). Rotary annular refractory plate (30) with a support frame (34) slides on the stationary plate and has flow passages (31) which can selectively align with its flow passage. Bolt (42) fixed in the hub (27) of the stationary frame extends through the hub (37) of the rotary frame, in which a guide sleeve (46) surrounds it. A spring between the guide sleeve and the rotary frame moves the rotary frame away from the guide sleeve.
