PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst for decomposing nitrogen oxide having high NO decomposition activity even at high temp. by introducing copper into mordenite. CONSTITUTION:Mordenite which is one kind of zeolite and has a composition of xM2/nO.Al2O3.zH2O (wherein n is a valency of a cation M, x=0.8-2.0, y>=2.0 and z>=0) having high SiO2/Al2O3 ratio is used. Copper is introduced into this mordenite by an ion exchange method or an impregnation method. The catalyst thus obtained for decomposing nitrogen oxide removes nitrogen monoxide efficiently even from gas low in the concn. of nitrogen monoxide within a high temp. region. |
