PURPOSE:To measure the ductile fracture resistance accurately by measuring the displacement between two points on a load line in cutout surface wherein the crack tip formed on a test piece is provided and the displacement between two points on a line in parallel with the load line in the cutout surface at the same time. CONSTITUTION:The cutout 1a, wherein the crack tip 9 is provided, is formed in the test piece 1. A tensile force P is imparted to the test piece 1 throught pin holes 2 provided at two places of the test piece 1 on both sides of the cutout 1a. Pairs of cantilever 3a and 4a jare provided. Displacement gages 3 and 4 having strain gages 5 and 6 provided in the middle of the cantilevers 3a and 4a are provided. The tips of a pair of the cantilevers 3a are engaged with two points 7 on the load line, alobg which the tensile force is applied to the test piece 1 through the pin holes 2, in the surface of the cutout 1a. The tips of a pair of cantilevers 4a are engaged with two points 8 on the arbitrary line which is in parallel with the load line on the surface of the cutout 1a. With the increase of the tensile force P, the displacements between the two points 7 and between thetwo points 8 are simultaneously measured by the outputs of the strain gages 5 and 6. |
