PRODUCTION OF POROUS PHENOLIC RESIN FIBER

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a phenolic resin fiber having excellent heat resistance and heat insulation by graft-polymerizing a monomer containing vinyl group to a phenolic resin fiber and heattreating the product at a high temperature. CONSTITUTION:A monomer containing vinyl group (preferable example: methyl methacrylate monomer) is graft-polymerized to a phenolic resin fiber or a phenolic resin fiber structure at a grafting ratio of 5 to 100% and the grafted phenolic resin fiber is heat-treated at 150 to 300 deg.C to obtain a porous phenolic resin fiber having fine pores of <=100Angstrom in diameter. Since the fiber is imparted with excellent heat resistance and heat insulation without deteriorating the softness, it is suitable in the fields of friction material and heat insulation material.
