An energy-absorbing polyurethane foam having a density of 0.10 g/cm<3> or less, a restoring force and a compression strength of at least 3 kg/cm<2> at 50 % deformation is produced by the reaction of raw material mainly comprising a polyisocyanate, a polyol, a chain extender, and a blowing agent, wherein carbodiimide-modified diphenylmethane diisocyanate of an NCO content of 20 to 28 % is used as the polyisocyanate and at least water is used as the blowing agent, while the reaction is conducted under the condition of an NCO to OH equivalent ratio of 0.9 to 1.2 and a water content of the raw material as a whole of 1 to 3 wt.%. |
