PURPOSE:To enable the detection even of both of P- and S-seismic waves, by constituting a double-layered liquid consisting of a liquid having high specific gravity, low viscosity and high surface reflectivity, and a liquid having low specific gravity, high viscosity and low surface reflectivity to a sensor part. CONSTITUTION:A double-layered liquid 34, which consists of a liquid 32 having high specific gravity, low viscosity and high surface reflectivity such as mercury and a liquid 33 having low specific gravity, high viscosity and low surface reflectivity such as oil, is constituted in the container 31 of a sensor part 20. This container 31 is equipped with a light source 36 and a photoelectric converter element 37 receiving light in the container 31 and also provided with a signal processing part generating output when the output of the sensor part is larger than a predetermined value. the sensor part converts the luminance distribution in the container, which changes by the change in the surface configuration of the liquid 4 generated when two kinds of different liquids 32, 33 in the container 31 are shaken by a sessmic wave, to an electric signal and outputs the same while the signal processing part discriminates a shaking level on the basis of the magnitude of said output signal. |
