PURPOSE:To provide good manufacturability for communication cables and give them excellent waterproof characteristic by longitudinally wrapping a metal laminate tape, in which a water-absorbing and swelling polymer layer is formed, thereby forming a metal water-shutting layer, and then forming a sheath layer over the periphery of this metal water-shutting layer. CONSTITUTION:A water-absorptive press-winding tape is wrapped on a cable core 12 while it runs continuously, to form a water-absorptive press-wind layer 13. Thereover is wrapped a metal laminate tape 14a longitudinally, in which a water-absorbing and swelling polymer layer 14a is formed at least on either side, so as to form a metal water-shutting layer 14. Further thereover is formed a sheath layer 16 consisting of such material as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, etc. This provides good manufacturability for object cables, which also are equipped with excellent waterproof characteristic. |
