Process and device for the qualitative and quantitative detection/analysis of nitrate ions using narcotine or narcotine derivates as the tracing substance. The device has several chambers and feeding tubes linking the chambers, whereby the sample to be tested is made to react with the tracing substance. The process using said device is limited to four steps.
