<p>The inductively coupled current compressor comprises several current absorption units (22), each with a connection-free input end and an output end. The units are connected to a current conductor (26) for feeding induced current to the output side of the series-coupled magnet coils (20). Each magnet coil comprises a core, pref. of soft iron, around which an insulated conductor wire is wound with winds located adjacent to one another, forming one or more wire layers. Each current absorption unit incorporates a current-conducting component in the form of a long metal rod, surrounded by several layers of metal foil, and an outer capsule of metal. An insulating plate is fitted between adjoining series-coupled magnet coils. The magnet coils and/or the inductively coupled current compressors are capable of being switched on and off by a controllable breaker (18).</p> |
