A set of improvements to sensors for measuring the magnetic density or mass density of fluids, using a system of empty floats 2, four short pole pieces 23, four magnets 24 inside the measuring cell, a thick window 32 forming one of the walls of the casing and short magnetic and mechanical interconnections formed from homogeneous components. Glass-metal connectors replace organic adhesives. A version with a single float, two pole pieces and two magnets measures the mass density. Miniaturisation enables it to be used in situ. <IMAGE>
