Automatic dustbin for returning a deposit on cups. The invention relates to a device making it possible to return a deposit on cups from automatic drinks dispensers and to crush them so that they cannot be reused. It consists of a double door 3-14 preventing access to the system for recognising the cup. A system for recognition by optoelectronic means comprising a lamp 27 illuminating a cup 50 which produces a shadow 29 on certain phototransistors 51, positioned in pairs, so that one of them is in the shadow 60 and the other is in the light 61. An electrical pulse is sent to the coin return device. A crusher consisting of a fixed plate 36 and of another, movable plate 39 which crushes the cup and which finishes its travel in the dustbin bag. <IMAGE>
