The control section comprises a differential circuit (4) for differentiating a vertical blank pulse, a NOR gate (3) for detecting a variable speed reproducing mode, a NAND gate (1) for generating a vertical drive signal, an OR gate (2) for logically combining an inverted video mute signal from an inverter with the output of the NAND gate, a transistor (Q2) for inverting the output of the OR gate, and a transistor (Q2) for synthesizing the video signal from the mixer and a vertical drive signal from Q3.
