The protection device can be connected, in a plug-in manner, to a contact component for incoming and outgoing telecommunications lines. It has earthed overvoltage suppressors (3), aligned in pairs in the plug-in direction, which make contact with contact components (4, 5). The latter are provided with plug-in tongues (7), offset alternately at the sides, whose ends are bent back to themselves and are anchored in a housing (1) of the protection device.
