PURPOSE:To obtain a stringlike or a sheetlike composite material of carbon fiber and carbon which is excellent in flexibility, soft and smooth in formation of a curved-face shape by arranging expandable graphite powder around unidirectional bundle-like or yarn-like carbon fiber, pressurizing and molding it without utilizing an adhesive. CONSTITUTION:Expandable graphite is arranged around unidirectional bundle- like or yarn-like carbon fiber 1. Expandable graphite is previously molded into a sheet shape or a tape shape and the obtained expandable graphite molded bodies 2 can be arranged on carbon fiber 1 and thereunder. Then the unidirectional carbon fiber 1 is wrapped with the expandable graphite molded bodies 2 by pressurizing and molding the expandable graphite arranged around the carbon fiber while utilizing rolls 6, 6' without utilizing an adhesive. Thereby a stringlike, a sheetlike or a tape-like composite material of carbon fiber and carbon is obtained. In such a way, it is produced without utilizing the adhesive and therefore carbon fiber 1 can be moved in the inside. The characteristics such as the mechanical strength of carbon fiber 1, compression stability and lubricity of the expandable graphite molded body 2 are sufficiently exhibited. |
