An end fitting for a high pressure hose (1) (e.g. brake hose) is proposed which can be easily assembled and manufactured at low cost and which is mounted on the end of a high pressure hose (1) such that it is pressed on to the hose in a holding and sealing zone (II). In order to prevent a loosening of an outer sleeve (6) of the fitting, the cover layer (2) of the high pressure hose (1) is at least in part removed, at least in the holding and sealing zone (II), for instance by grinding the layer away, since otherwise the layer material could flow away at high temperatures. <IMAGE>
