PURPOSE: To simplify the structure and operation by providing a hollow tower fixed to a transmission, fixing a yoke inside the tower in such a manner as to be pivoted on a shifting axis, and fixing a manual shift lever inside the yoke in such a manner as to be pivoted on a selecting axis. CONSTITUTION: A shift lever 30 is pivoted on a selecting axis 26. Since the axis 26 is perpendicular to a shifting axis 15, a yoke 20 remains at a neutral position. A plunger 45 of a neutral start switch assembly 43 is fitted into a recess 41, to generate an electrical signal indicating that a transmission is at the neutral position. The pivotal movement of the lever 30 on the shifting axis 15 allows one selected from shift rails 12a-12c to be moved from the neutral position at the center. Consequently, the yoke 20 is pivoted from its neutral position, so that the plunger 45 is retreated inside the switch assembly 43, to generate another electrical signal indicating that the transmission is not at the neutral position. |
