PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive device by constituting the device so that light output bidirectional communication between arbitrary stations can be performed by a pair of optical transmitter/receivers by connecting the branching terminal (or coupling terminal) of an optical coupler for rightward transmission to the coupling terminal (or branching terminal) of an optical coupler for leftward transmission. CONSTITUTION:In a transmission mode, the light output of the optical transmitter 4 is branched to a branching terminal side for an optical fiber 1a and the optical coupler 2 by the optical coupler 2. An optical power branched to the optical fiber 1a is transmitted in the rightward direction of the optical fiber 1a. The optical power made incident on the branching terminal side of the optical coupler 2 is branched further by the optical coupler 3, and is made incident on an optical fiber 1b, then, is transmitted in the leftward direction of the optical fiber 1b. In a reception mode, the optical power transmitted from the rightward direction of the optical fiber 1a is made incident on the branching terminal side for the optical fiber 1a and the optical coupler 2, and furthermore, it is made incident on an optical receiver 5 after being branched by the optical coupler 3. |
