Balanced facing head

A facing head for a machine tool is described in which a tool slide and a counter slide are radially displaceable in opposite directions for the balancing. The counter slide is mounted in a central recess of the tool slide in such a way that the centres of gravity of the tool slide and the counter slide move virtually on the same radial line during a tool adjustment. In this way, the dynamic unbalance occurring when slides lie axially one behind the other or radially next to one another is avoided. <IMAGE>
