A solution of a divalent cationic monovalent anionic salt and urea for use as a foliar spray. The divalent cationic monovalent anionic salt is preferably a salt of magnesium, calcium or zinc and a chloride or nitrate. The amount of the divalent cationic monovalent urea salt is present in solution in an amount such that a 4:1 Urea N:Metal molar ratio is approached in which proportion the urea becomes urease resistant.
