Jack having an upright pillar, in which a threaded spindle is mounted rotatably, a driveshaft mounted rotatably in the region of the upper end of the upright column and provided with a hand crank, and an angular gear between the driveshaft and the threaded spindle, there being provided, in order to reduce the running noises of the angular gear, a stop which prevents the threaded spindle from being displaced towards the driveshaft.
