The invention relates to a mobile apparatus for transporting disabled persons who are to be lifted, lowered and moved horizontally. The apparatus according to the invention for transporting disabled persons consists of a hollow section (2) which is open at the bottom and in which a trolley (3) driven via a rotating toothed belt (10) is horizontally displaceable and has two deflection rollers (6) for the supporting belt (7) of the supporting element (4) accommodating the disabled person. The drive station (5) with direct current motors for driving the trolley and the supporting belt is situated at an end face of the hollow section. With the aid of simple fixing elements (13), the transporting apparatus according to the invention can be attached to and detached from walls, ceilings and pillars, and also in motor vehicles, without conversion work. The advantages achieved by means of the invention reside particularly in the fact that the apparatus according to the invention for transporting disabled persons can be universally employed at the most varied locations, that only a single transporting apparatus is necessary, which, because of its compact structure and its light weight, can easily and quickly be installed in rooms, baths, toilets, motor vehicles, etc, and can conveniently be moved from place to place.
