The invention relates to cosmetic and pharmaceutical compositions containing the benzylidenecamphor derivatives of formula: <IMAGE> where R1 and R3 denote H, OH, C1-C8 alkyl or C1-C8 alkoxy, at least one of the radicals R1 and R3 being OH, alkyl or alkoxy, R2 and R4 denoting H or OH, at least one of the radicals R2 and R4 representing OH. The compounds (I) are broad-band sunscreen agents and antioxidants, and are useful in the treatment of skin allergies and inflammations. |
