摘要 PURPOSE:To decide an optimum parameter with respect to a color distribution of an object picture having a minimum color difference from an eye of the human being by obtaining a color masking parameter by the use of a virtual color patch without printing actually the color patch. CONSTITUTION:A color patch selecting means 1 samples a virtual color patch set and stores a selected coordinate value in a color patch memory means 2. A color conversion means 3 scans a picture and converts (R, G, B) of respective picture elements into coordinate values. A weight calculating means 4 calculates a frequency distribution of the virtual color patch and stores in a weight memory means 5. A luminance value calculating means 6 converts the coordinate value of the virtual color patch into a three primary color luminance value and to this value, a masking calculating means 8 obtains a three primary color density. An evaluated value calculating means 9 calculates the evaluated values of the color of the virtual color patch and the color indicated by an approximate value of the three primary color main density of ink. A control means 10 makes minimum this evaluated value by a convergence calculation and decides an optimum color masking parameter to an object picture.
