PURPOSE:To improve the antithrombotic property and surface lubricity of the catheter by coating the surface of polyurethane which is the surface material of the catheter with a compsn. consisting of a polymer of a vinyl pyrolidone compd. and polyurethane, thereby forming a hydrophilic layer having lubricity. CONSTITUTION:The vascular catheter is formed by coating the surface of polyurethane which is the surface material with a soln. mixture prepd. by dissolving the compsn. consisting of the polymer of the vinyl pyrolidone compd. and the polyurethane in dimethyl formamide or diethyl formamide. The structure of the state in which the polymer of the molecular chains of both the polymer of the vinyl pyrolidone compd. and the polyurethane are entangled with each other by mixing of both is obtd. if the catheter is formed in such a manner; in addition, the affinity to the polyurethane layer on the surface is extremely high and, therefore, the peeling strength of the formed hydrophilic layer increases. The hydrophilicity of the vinyl pyrolidone compd. is, therefore, maintained and the bond of the polyurethane which is the base material is simultaneously increases. The vascular catheter having both of the antithrombotic property and the high peeling strength is thus obtd. |
