PURPOSE:To keep the quality of pictures for a long period by providing an auxiliary trimming member in a part of the peripheral area of a developing roll so that this trimming member is deflected in the direction opposite to the toner carrying direction with respect to a trimming member and making the gap between the auxiliary trimming member and the peripheral face of the developing roll wider than that between the trimming member and the peripheral face of the developing roll. CONSTITUTION:A toner supplied from a hopper part 4 is held on a developing roll 3 as shown by an arrow (a) and passes parts where an auxiliary trimming member 20 and a trimming member 5 are arranged, and thereafter, the toner is carried to a developing part between the developing roll 3 and a photosensitive drum 2. At this time, the surface of the toner layer on the developing roll 3 is first scraped by the auxiliary trimming member 20, and the thickness of the toner layer becomes delta', and the surface of the toner layer is next scraped by the trimming member 5, and the thickness of the toner layer becomes a trimming gap delta (delta'>delta). Thus, the toner layer on the developing roll 3 has a certain thickness, and stable pictures are obtained. |
