摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To improve a contrast ratio and to assure a stable insulating characteristic by constituting the image converting element of a single crystal plate having an electrooptical effect and photoconduction effect, insulating layers formed by using glass, and transparent electrodes which apply electric fields to the insulating layers and the single crystal plate. CONSTITUTION:The glass insulating layers 32, 32 having a prescribed thickness are formed on both surfaces of the single crystal plate 31 having the electrooptical effect and the photoconduction effect. Quartz glass, borosilicate glass, etc., are used as the glass material and the thickness thereof is confined to about 5 to 500mum. The electrodes 33, 33 consisting of a transparent conductive material, such as indium oxide, is provided on the outer surfaces of the glass insulating layers 32, 32. The generation of a dielectric breakdown is then obviated and the contrast ratio is extremely improved as compared to the conventional image converting element formed by using org. insulators, such as polyparaxylene and polystyrene, and inorg. insulators, such as mica. The image converting element which is improved in the contrast ratio and with which the stable insulating characteristic is assured is obtd. in this way.</p>
