PURPOSE:To enable an information processor equipped with a disk-based operating system to operate irrelevantly to whether or not a disk is present by providing a floppy disk stored with an irreducible file for starting up the system. CONSTITUTION:The system consists of the floppy disk 10 stored with the file of the disk-based system program, the information processor 11, an initialization part 12, a RAM 13, a RAM disk area securing means 121, a copying means 122, a resident volume switching means 123, etc. Then the floppy disk 10 is stored with the irreducible file which is required to start up the system and when the system is started up, a RAM disk area 131 is provided on the memory and the file is copied to make a resident part required for the disk system reside on the RAM disk. Consequently, the information processor 1 equipped with the disk-based operating system can operate irrelevantly to whether the disk is present or not.
