PURPOSE:To impart durable flame retardance to combustible materials, by adding a phosphorus-containing oligomer or polymer synthesized from specified phosphate, halogenide, aldehyde and ketone and a low-melting organic phosphorus compd. to combustible materials. CONSTITUTION:1mol of a tertiary phosphite of formula I (where R1is 1-4C alkyl), 1mol of a dialkyl halogenophosphite of formula II (where R2 is 1-4C alkyl; X is Cl or Br), 1-1,000mol of a cyclic halogenophosphite of formula IIIor IV (where R3,4,5,6,7 are H or methyl), 1mol of an aldehyde of furmula V and 1-1,000mol of a ketone of formula VI (where R9,10 are 1-4C alkyl, phenyl etc.) are made to interact. A composition consisting mainly of the resultant phosphorus-containing oligomer or polymer and an organic phosphorus compd. with a melting point of 50 deg.C or lower (e.g.trimethyl phosphate) is added to a combustible material to make it flame retardant. |
