<p>PURPOSE:To make retension volume large, to prolong the life of liquid crystal and to reduce the sticking of a liquid crystal display screen and the occurrence of unevenness in black by arranging a transparent picture element electrode so that it may overlap both a part where a gate signal line horizontally extends and a part where it vertically branches and constituting a retension volume element of the parts where the picture element electrode overlaps. CONSTITUTION:The gate signal line GL which horizontally extends has the part where it branches in a vertical direction every picture element. The transparent picture element electrode ITO 1 is arranged so as to overlap both the part where the gate signal line GL horizontally extends and the part where it vertically branches and the retension volume element Cadd 1 is constituted of the parts where the electrode ITO 1 overlaps. Therefore, the retension volume is made large and the value of DC component applied to the liquid crystal is made small because the effect of the change of the potential of a gate electrode on the potential of a picture element electrode is reduced at the time of switching a thin film transistor TFT. Thus, the retension volume is made large and the value of the DC component applied to the liquid crystal is made small, so that the life of the liquid crystal is prolonged and the sticking of the liquid crystal display screen and the occurrence of the unevenness in black are reduced.</p> |
