PURPOSE:To obtain a fluoroelastomer composition of improved strength under high humidity by mixing a tetrafluoroethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer with an ethylene/ethylenically unsaturated ester copolymer, a flame retardant and a flame-retarding aid. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. tetrafluoroethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer (e.g. tetrafluoroethylene/propylene copolymer) is mixed with 5-25 pts.wt. ethylene/ ethylenically unsaturated ester copolymer desirably of a comonomer ratio of ethylene to the ethylenically unsaturated ester of 12-38wt.% (e.g. ethylene/methyl methacrylate copolymer), 2-30 pts.wt. halogenous flame retardant (e.g. decabromodiphenyl ether), 1-20 pts.wt. flame retarding aid (e.g. Sb2O3) and optionally a filler, a pigment, a lubricant, an extrusion aid, etc. |
