The reaction mixt. contains acetate, alcohol, water and in some cases contaminants. It also contains 3-10% by weight of the total mixt. of sulphuric acid. Water is introduced into the rectification column at 1/2-8/10 of the total height of the column. The water addn. corresponds to 1/7-1/11th of the vol. flow of the overhead discharge. - The main vapour off-time is at atmospheric pressure and 63-85 deg.C and can be further purified, if required by known methods.(Dwg.0/0)
