NEW MATERIAL:3-(4-N-Alkylaminophenyl)-3-(4-N,N-dialkylaminophenyl)-6-N,N- dialkylaminophthalide of the formula I (wherein R<1>, R<2>, and R<3> are each methyl or ethyl). USE:Useful as a colorless dye or a synthetic intermediate for recording materials such as a pressure-sensitive paper and a thermosensible paper. PREPARATION:A compd. of formula I is obtd. by reacting a compd. of formula II with a compd. of formula III or by reacting a compd. of formula IV with a compd. of formula V at 40-130 deg.C for 10min to 7hr in the presence of a condensation agent such as acetic anhydride, sulfuric acid, phosphoryl chloride, etc., if necessary, in an inert, volatile org. solvent such as chloroform, benzene, etc. |
