The present invention is in the agricultural field. The subject of the invention is a process for destroying underground animals, a process of the "gassing" type, characterised in that it consists in hollowing out one or a number of galleries at a depth of between 10 and 30 cm below the surface of the soil and simultaneously injecting into the hollowed-out galleries a toxic gas or gaseous mixture and simultaneously reclosing the said galleries. The means of implementation of the process in question, and also of the invention, comprise at least one cylindroconical ploughshare 6 suspended via a blade support 7 from a platform 4 itself supported behind a tractor, and a pipe 13 for injecting the gas, arranged along the blade support of the ploughshare, the injection pipe being in contact with a source 10 of toxic gas. <IMAGE>
