PURPOSE:To allow connection and switching by advancing and retreating of a smaller number of optical path switching elements by fixing at least one of the optical path switching elements and forming the other as a movable element, thereby switching the optical paths. CONSTITUTION:The light from a fiber A1 is reflected by a fixed prism S and is made incident to a fiber C2 when a prism N is advanced to an intersected position by driving a solenoid 31. The light from a fiber C1 is then reflected by the prism N and is made incident to a fiber A2, by which the communications between the optical paths A and C is made. The optical paths between A and B are connected when a prism E is advanced to the intersected point by driving a solenoid 32 in the same manner. A prism W advances to the intersected position and the optical paths between B and C are connected when a solenoid 33 is driven. The connection can be made merely by moving one of the three prisms N, E, W in such a manner. |
