Benzimidazolyl derivatives of formula I wherein Y represents an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or cycloalkyl group; or a group -OR, -SR, -SO2R3, halogen, O-aryl, cyano, -NR4R5, aryl, aralkyl or nitro; R2 represents a group -OH, -NR7R8 or -XM; A represents -SO2B; Y1 represents an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl group; or an optionally substituted cycloalkyl group; or a group such as -SR, -OR, -OR1a, halogen, aryl, aralkyl, -Oaryl or -NR7R8; n is zero or an integer from 1 to 3; m represents an integer from 1 to 4; R represents an optionally substituted alkyl or cycloalkyl group; R1a represents an optionally substituted alkenyl or alkynyl group; R7 and R89 represent independently a group such as hydrogen, R, aryl or aralkyl; X represents oxygen or sulphur; M represents optionally substituted alkyl, optionally substituted cycloalkyl, or an aryl, aralkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, or an imine group; B represents optionally substituted alkyl group, optionally substituted cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or NR7R8; and agriculturally acceptable salts thereof; herbicidal compositions comprising these compounds and their application to crop protection.
