PURPOSE:To manufacture a current-limiting element which is resistant to a thermal impulse by a method wherein the powder, containing at least one or more kinds of ZrB2, TiC, WC, TiB2, HfB2, NbB2, TaB2, TiN and SiC, is added to and mixed in fine powder-like BaTiO3, the mixture is molded and sintered. CONSTITUTION:The powder, containing at least one or more kinds of ZrB2, TiC, WC, TiB2, HfB2, NbB2, TaB2, TiN and SiC, is added to and mixed in fine powder-like BaTiO3, and the mixture is molded. By sintering said molded material at the heating temperature of 900 to 1400 deg.C, a current-limiting element is manufactured using a BaTiO3 positive temperature coefficient thermistor. To be more precise, the specific resistance value of the BaTiO3 PTC thermistor is reduced by a figure by the mixture of material, and at the same time, materials having almost same thermal expansion coefficient are selected as an additive. As a result, a current-limiting element, which is resistant to a thermal impulse and applicable to a large current breaking circuit, can be formed. |
