PURPOSE:To reduce latency time required for the absence recording of an automatic answering telephone as much as possible and to improve operation convenience by immediately performing the absence recording of the automatic answering telephone when a call issuing side is voice mode. CONSTITUTION:When incoming is detected, a reception mode is connected to the automatic answering telephone 6 regardless that the call issuing side is the voice or facsimile, and also, the detecting operation of a call issuing tone transmitted when the call issuing side is the facsimile is performed by a detecting means 7 provided at facsimile equipment 2 in parallel with the above operation. When it is detected that the call issuing tone is detected and the recording operation of the automatic answering telephone is completed, the reception mode is switched to the facsimile equipment. Therefore, it is possible to immediately perform the absence recording of the automatic answering telephone when the call issuing side is the voice. Thereby, the latency time required for the absence recording of the automatic answering telephone can be reduced as much as possible, and the operation convenience can be improved.
